## Project images

Image generation is controlled by the feature allowance of the effective project tier. A project can inherit features from the account subscription or from a project-scoped one-off edition.

## Cover generation

Cover generation is available only when the effective project tier enables it. Generate the cover after the title and positioning are stable; otherwise you will spend time polishing a visual for a book that is still changing.

## Images belong to a project and, optionally, a chapter

The image API enforces the effective project's AI-image allowance before generation. Chapter review can generate or upload images associated with a specific content item, including caption and placement metadata.

During ebook export, Scribora injects the most recent image for each chapter/image-type slot into the chapter content. Older regenerated versions of the same slot are not all stacked into the exported book.

## The cover is also a publishing asset

When a project has a cover image, the Publish card uses that real project cover instead of the generic book mockup. The Publish flow can then render separate KDP cover files for paperback and ebook use; those outputs are distinct from the interior PDF/EPUB.
